Michelle Marciniak Celebrates Pat Summitt During Unveiling of New Banner at Tennessee

372049_t300

Pat Summitt, the winning-est coach in NCAA Basketball history, was honored last week with a huge 12 foot by 20 foot banner hung to the Boling Alley rafters before the Tennessee women tipped off against Notre Dame. With a record that includes, “a staggering 1,098 wins. The 18 Final Fours. The 21 different All-Americans. The 100 percent graduation rate. The 78 players sent into the coaching ranks,” the stadium hardly had room for Pat’s newest banner!

According to Michelle Marciniak, the first MVP of the 1996 Final Four, “What makes Pat so special is her humility.” She added, “I’m just so glad she was able to be here and get this opportunity for people to honor her.”

Despite Michelle’s busy schedule with SHEEX she makes it a point to spend quality time with her beloved coach Pat, who suffers from early onset dementia. “Things are different,” said Marciniak, “but what’s special to me is to just sit and be with her even if we don’t talk about that much.” And quality time involves plenty of cooking, “Italian marinated chicken that is to die for,” Marciniak said. “Creamed jalapeno corn. Salmon teriyaki, open faced on the grill. Want me to go on?”

A few months ago, Michelle told a website that she sometimes hears Summitt’s voice after business meetings.

“She’ll say, ‘OK, you had a great meeting today. So now what?…I hear her voice all the time. She’s just so special.”

SHEEX Celebrates Halloween!

In honor of Halloween, we decided to take our costumes to the next level by incorporating some of our fabulous SHEEX! And no, we did not all throw white sheets over our heads and cut out eye holes… we were far more creative!

Just when we thought Kirsten would have to be a ghost, she whipped out her long, curly, Cousin It-like hair!

From left to right we have Autumn (Whitney), Obi Wan Kenobi (Yan), Greek god (Brad), Hobo (Kaye) holding a pumpkin (Vegas), Cousin It (Kirsten), Asian Princess (Amberle), Bollywood Star (Chris), Scary Spice (Brittany), Hugh Hefner (DJ) and Zorro (Anthony).  Not a ghost in the bunch! Behind the Scenes: LA Photo Shoot

Picture this: Mack Sennett Stage, Hollywood’s oldest continuing studio with photos and memorabilia dating as far back as 1912, hardwood floors, creaky doors and maybe even a few ghosts of legendary stars like Buster Keaton, Carole Lombard and Greta Garbo…

Then in comes Janice, like a whirlwind, with a team of high-tech cameramen and cases of SHEEX bedding made from the very latest in performance technology. It looks like outdated cotton is not the only thing being whisked into the 21st century thanks to SHEEX!

My Intern Story: Marketing Intern Brittany Mitchell

Brittany- Marketing Intern
I never thought I would end up doing an internship in Irmo, South Carolina. I’m not really into small cities as evident by the fact that I spent most of my childhood trying to get out of Nashville because it was too small. For my last internship I moved to the heart of Paris for 7 months and couldn’t have felt more at home. So when both Marty and Anthony (fellow IMBAs at the Moore School of Business) talked to me about interning at SHEEX I was vehemently opposed to any city too small to have a subway system–no less a town that I’d never even heard of. But here I am in Irmo, South Carolina.

What sold the internship at SHEEX to me was the combination of smart, dynamic people and a very unique product that has so much potential from a marketing perspective. I am fascinated by the thought and creativity that goes into growing a luxury brand. When I first looked at the SHEEX website, packaging, advertising and PR, I thought, this company isn’t selling sheets, they are selling a lifestyle, which is something I want to stand behind. Marty and Anthony explained to me the history of the company and the technology behind the product and how important functionality is to the brand. Co-CEOs Susan and Michelle are even more interesting than their backgrounds as star players and award-winning coaches suggest. It also doesn’t hurt that Michelle and I share the same Alma Mater… Go VOLS! From the beginning everything about the company seemed unconventional which sparked my interest even more. After a 20 minute interview with Susan I was sold. I spent the rest of the week explaining to friends and family why staying in South Carolina over the summer actually made more sense than doing anything else.

After only a few months my responsibilities include copywriting, collaborating with the CMO and other agencies on marketing campaigns, product and market research, branding strategy and community management. I also have responsibilities as the intern manager which include recruiting new interns, managing the current intern project list and building relationships with USC to do client-based project work in certain classes. Despite all my past internships and work experiences, SHEEX is by far the most interesting, fun and challenging experience I’ve had so far. Who would have guessed that a big city girl could have such a good time and grow professionally in cute, little Irmo, SC!

Michelle and Janice in El Salvador

Befitting of their always hectic schedules, Michelle and Janice squeezed in a quick trip to the factory in El Salvador last week. After some not so tasty late night sushi, Michelle and Susan were up bright and early for a morning run. Then it was off to the factory to witness SHEEX performance products in the making.

Bad sushi…but still smiling!

Taking it to the streets of El Salvador. Michelle and Janice out for a morning run. Okay I was walking by this point!

The designs looked amazing and the employees made Michelle and Janice feel warm and welcomed. They even performed a choreographed danced routine during their afternoon break. Although at the time this may have seemed like an audition for El Salvador’s Got Talent, in reality it is just a cool part of their day-to-day routine. All in all, the visit was a huge success and everyone can sleep easy knowing SHEEX products are in great hands!

Michelle looking on as first designs are coming through the sewing lines.

Team Janice hard at work!

Exercise break in the factory! They dance to pop music for about 10 minutes to stretch and relieve tension!

SHEEX in the NEWS!

SHEEX is making headlines! Everyone from influential mommy bloggers, the evening news and even Heidi Klum is raving about the luxuriously soft sheets that keep you cool for a better night’s sleep!

Supermodel and Supermom Heidi Klum gives “12 Steps to Better Sleep” on her website and includes SHEEX as a key to sleeping success! She points out that, “considering how many hours you spend in your bed, it might be overdue for an upgrade.” Sheets are a top-priority on a healthy sleep shopping list because, “your body’s temperature changes as you move through different sleep stages so you need sheets that can handle the fluctuations.”

CBS News New York featured SHEEX in their evening news segment “The Sleep Extreme” covering unique methods to help get more rest at night. The segment shows the parallel between the benefits of performance fabrics while working out, and how the same properties that keep you cool will help you rest better at night, which both users and doctors agreed is a key to better sleep.

As Mom Sees It“, an influential Mommy Blog focused on reviews and advice, calls SHEEX, “The Sheets That Don’t Just Cover Your Bed, They Perform.” The author not only breaks down the science behind SHEEX but also opens up about the SHEEX experience leaving readers yearning for a chance to check out the silky workout pants-inspired sheets.

“Sheex don’t feel like your standard sheets; they feel more like the pants in which you exercise. In fact, the fabric for their bedding is actually inspired by athletic fabrics to offer temperature control, moisture wicking, and breathability to make you more comfortable while you sleep.”
