To celebrate Thanksgiving, we asked some of our Sleep Ambassadors to share what they are most thankful for this past year. While these athlete have experienced incredible performances this year, their answers come straight from the heart!
Cliff Avril (Defensive End) I am always most thankful for my family and my health.
Dexter McCluster (Wide Receiver) I am thankful for my family and for being given the gift to play this amazing game.
Diana D’Alessio (LPGA) I am thankful for my family. My partner and I have a fantastic life in Arizona, both enjoying our career paths. My mom lives in Arizona as well, so I am grateful to be able to see her frequently. The rest of my family lives in New Jersey and everyone is happy and healthy. I am also grateful for all the opportunities professional golf has given me. Being able to travel all over the world and play golf for a living is something I will always be thankful for.
Rafael Campos (PGA) I am definitely thankful for the immense support my sponsors, friends, fans, supporters and especially my parents (mom and dad) have given me through out this first phase of my career. The truth is that without the support and help, it would be extremely difficult to pursue the golf career in this stage of my life. It is harder than people think to travel week in and week out at this level all while knowing that you have to finish inside the top 18 each week to cover expenses. I truly am thankful for all of those people helping me and pushing me to work harder every week.
Lawrence Siegel (Jiu Jitsu) I continue to travel around the country for my career with Toyota and still train at multiple different Jiu Jitsu academy’s all over. I thank all the people who have opened their doors to me and shared their time with a traveling grappler. Jiu Jitsu really brings people together and has no boundaries. It is internal, external and most importantly…eternal.
Jaclyn Paaso (Free Skiier) I am thankful for my health!
David Oliver (Track and Field) I am thankful for so many things: My family and friends that have supported every endeavor that I have taken on. My health which provides me with the great opportunity to do what I thoroughly enjoy doing. My sponsors who facilitate my ability to maximize my talents and who are always sending me supportive notes and messages, alongside my entire support team. I am well aware that no one gets to where they are going on their own, and I am no different.
Brad Walker (Track and Field) I’m most thankful for being able to pursue my sporting goals without the worries of a part-time job dividing my time.
After an incredible year that includes claiming the 110 Meter Hurdle World Title, SHEEX Sleep Ambassador David Oliver has been named USA Track and Field Athlete of the Week! Oliver continued his winning year with a win at the Great North City Games in England (he has won 6 straight consecutive races including this race and the World Championships)!
Discussing his season in the USATF Press Release Oliver stated,
“My season was great. I accomplished nearly all of my goals I set for 2013. Being the world champion was my main focus this year and I did that. This was easily the best year of my career, not only from the standpoint of winning a lot of races and being world number one. I’ve done that before. It’s because given all the things I’ve gone through the past two seasons, to grind my way back to the top of the event made it all that much better.”
SHEEX is so proud to have 110 Meter Hurdle World Champion David Oliver on our roster of Sleep Ambassadors. As athletes ourselves we know that winning Gold comes from more than perfecting just one competition, David came back from injury with a new mindset and game plan this year that proved to be just what he needed! A big part of David’s success this year has come from proper recovery. In addition to plenty of sleep with SHEEX David took, “Wednesday as an active rest day, that was big. Because before, by the time Thursday came around it was pointless for me to be out there, I didn’t have anything left in the tank because I went so hard earlier in the week.”

Today SHEEX Sleep Ambassador David Oliver made history, becoming the 2013 World Champion (Moscow) in the 110 Meter High Hurdles. His win came along with the leading time in the world this year, 13.00. When David crossed the finish line he let out an emotional scream that was just as much about overcoming obstacles as it was about winning the biggest race of his career. “It’s about time,” Oliver told Universal Sports. “So many sacrifices. … I’ve been injured for so long, dealing with that, still running. Never giving up, believing in myself.”
SHEEX is proud to support David from injury to Gold, and we can all rest assured that David’s dedication to health, training and performance including better sleep and recovery with SHEEX played an integral role in him reaching the top of the podium!
