When I was looking for my internship, I did not know that there was such a cool and wonderful company in Irmo, SC. I saw the internship position on the university’s job website. The internship position Sheex offered was one I was very interested in. After I did some research into the company, I was 100% certain that this job was my dream internship! I had two interviews with Brittany and Janice, and they are both really nice people for giving me the chance to introduce myself. After speaking with them I knew more about Sheex, including their plans for future product lines, not only bedding, but also sleepwear.

Since SHEEX has just developed a new product line, I have been able to work in the sleepwear department. I do a lot of online marketing research, such as searching for competitive prices from different retailers, developing marketing strategies, searching for potential corporate partners for future products and looking for the best displays for future shows. Moreover, I need to track item returns and customers’ feedback about our sleepwear. I also help out with merchandising when we have new fixtures for display. Now I’m working in the inventory room arranging and organizing the area and making sure each returned item can be resold or used for internal purchase.
I would like to learn as much as I can while interning with SHEEX because I would like to work in either the home or apparel industry after I graduate. I especially would like to learn buying, merchandising and operation.
Sheex gives me many opportunities and allows me to be creative and vocal–they don’t limit our thoughts and opinions. If we have any ideas about the products, suggestions, marketing plans, etc, they would like to hear from us. I am given different kinds of projects from my supervisor every week. It’s excited because I never know what I will be working on each week. My coworkers have different backgrounds and specialized fields. Everyday I learn a little more from SHEEX and my coworkers that will help me in my future career and improve my knowledge and skills.

SHEEX Athlete Brad Walker took on the world’s best Pole Vaulters in an unusual venue this week. The Drake Relays Mall Vault is a Pole Vaulting competition indoors at the Jordan Creek Town Center Mall (Des Moines, IA). The event is held in conjunction with the Drake Relays, one of the oldest and most prestigious track meets in the U.S.. Brad, the 2012 defending Mall Vault champion, finished tied for 4th this year amongst a competitive line up that included London Olympic Games Silver Medalist Bjorn Otto and Gold Medalist Renaud Lavillenie. The Mall Vault is one of Brad’s favorite competitions of the year, but he has his sights set on making the 2013 World Championships Team headed to Moscow. Brad is training hard to reach his goal, putting in two sessions a day, with a nap in between workouts, and recovering from training with a restful night of sleep on his SHEEX!

After dealing with years of chronic lack of sleep that weighed on her health and happiness, NBC News’ Weekend TODAY co-anchor Erica Hill reconnected with getting enough sleep during an abrupt job change. During this time of increased sleep Erica recalls,

SHEEX Athlete David Oliver took off to a fast start in the 2013 Track and Field season by winning the 110 Meter Hurdles in 13.48 (ranked number 4 in the world) at the Florida Relays. Oliver’s next race will be the Bahamas Invitational and his 2013 goal is to qualify for the World Championships in Moscow this summer where the 2008 Olympic Bronze Medalist is aiming to reclaim his place on the podium.
